With all of the current fuzz about virtual and physical – and how they are starting to mix with each other – it’s not a surprize we’re all a little bit confused about them. Let’s find out the difference between the “multiverse” and the “metaverse” terms.
Understanding the differences between these two concepts will not only give us a better understanding of the world we are currently in, it will also help you and your company to be aware in a time of technological boom and constant discoverings.
The multiverse is an ecosystem of many virtual worlds – each of them consists of its own features, characteristics and laws. The metaverse is a fully realized digital world that exists beyond the one in which we live, work, hang out and do anything we would like to.
So, what’s the difference?
- The metaverse is the idea that one day we will have an entirely connected virtual world that enables users to move from one part to another (e.g., from gaming to working).
- The multiverse is more detached. The digital ecosystem still exists, but it doesn’t offer the ability to move between different parts of it. To better understand it – it’s our today’s life. We can have a virtual work environment, a huge number of gaming environments, and a social environment, but they aren’t connected to each other.
Whether it’s still complicated for us to predict the future, our everyday life is changing rapidly. In the nearest future, we might have multiple digital environments and a fantastic “multi-metaverse” world, who knows?
